Week in, Week out
A BISI publication
Dear readers,
Welcome to our third installment of the weekly newsletter and our fourth week back at school! Already we're a month into the new academic year and Autumn is just around the corner.
Along with the cooler temperatures we've enjoyed over the past week, we were delighted to hear the sounds of our Year 1 students for a day on campus on Monday. Students and teachers were excited to be back in the classroom, even if only for a day, introducing our students to their first taste of Primary School. We're looking forward to welcoming Year one's again next week for two days (Monday and Wednesday) and seeing some interactive learning around campus.
Calling all BISI students & family members!....
Would you like to be featured in our weekly newsletter? While we're all living and continuing our online journey in different places, we'd like to keep connected and share all the work you're producing in this new age of learning. While we can't be together for assemblies and sporting events and all the other activities we'd normally be doing, that doesn't mean we can't remain connected. We'd love to receive your articles and pictures to share with the BISI community, just like we would normally be doing in a regular school year. Perhaps you've been working on a new hobby or passion, or you've developed an already existing one. Whether you're a budding photographer, designer or scientist, or perhaps you're a technical genius with some tips for us all, we'd love to hear from you and feature some guest writers in the newsletter. Full credit given, of course. If you have something to say, please email your contribution by end of the day (every Thursday) to: communications@bis.k12.tr
Once again we have some wonderful contributions this week from teachers across both campuses, of the work you're all busy creating. Please keep sharing as we continue to work in these remote ways; It's always great to see your hard work and efforts and this will hopefully help keep a positive spirit among our community.
Enjoy the read!...

Incy Wincy Spider
Ms Emma Feltham: EYFS2 Class Teacher at City Campus
We have been learning to sing the song ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ in EYFS and the children have been very interested in learning about real spiders. We decided to go on a spider hunt in our garden. We used our magnifying glasses and looked very carefully. We found some spiders webs and some spiders too!

Welcome back to Campus - Year 1
We were very happy to see our Year 1 children return on Monday for the day. We loved hearing the enthusiasm during lessons and at play time. All students managed very well with the new social distancing rules and adapted extremely well into this 'new normal' school life. Next week we'll see the children return for two days and we're excited to share more updates as the weeks pass.

Secondary IT Lessons: 3D Printing
Jeevesh Kumar : Secondary IT Teacher & Yearbook Coordinator
Learning 3D printing in ICT lessons, the classroom becomes an interactive learning center. Teachers move beyond telling to showing and creating. Students’ learning and understanding reach new levels as they implement a design and see their vision become a reality. This creates both excitement and a deeper understanding of the visual design process when they are able to see and touch their projects.

And.....relax! We've made it through another week and we hope you have a great weekend ahead planned. Don't forget to take some time for yourself, even if it's just to read a few pages of a new book, to enjoy a sip of coffee with a loved one or to just simply 'be'.
Thanks again for tuning in; we hope to hear from you in the communications office over the coming weeks so we can share some of your work soon!
Wishing you all a beautiful weekend...
